As an analyst, Jens seeks and identifies new target markets, tracks international and domestic real estate trends, and performs underwriting and due diligence for acquisitions and dispositions in the portfolio. In addition he monitors real estate conditions in current Clarus markets and serves as editor for Clarus publications.
A Minnesota native, Jens graduated magna cum laude with degrees in English and German from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and holds an M.F.A. from Minnesota State University and an M.A. from Portland State University. Between multiple backpacking trips in northern, central and southern Europe, he also studied for a year at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany.
Before joining Clarus in 2007, Jens taught at two universities and worked as an editor and fundraiser for New Rivers Press. Away from the office he spends most of his time hiking and backpacking with his wife, writing, running and studying literary and social theory.
